Gala Summer Concert – Celebrating 40 Seasons of Song

We are proud to announce our Gala Summer Concert, a special event marking our 40th season. To celebrate this milestone year, we are delighted to present two performances—one in our home of Bray, plus an additional concert in St Andrew’s Church in Dublin.

With Musical Director Frank Kelly at the helm, this year’s programme features Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace, a powerful and evocative contemporary work that remains deeply relevant today. The piece will be accompanied by a film directed by Hefin Owen, a moving visual narrative that mirrors the arc of the music – from the march to war through the horrors of battle to reconciliation. It features a compelling mix of historical footage and imagery that intensify the emotional impact and underscore the work’s message of peace.

Alongside this, we will perform a selection of popular movements from a range of choral favourites, including Verdi’s Requiem and Orff’s Carmina Burana.

We are especially honoured to present the world premiere of The Creation Song of the Choir of Light, an original composition by Howard Goodall, written specially for Bray Choral Society in celebration of our 40th season.

The concert will feature the talents of: Jade Phoenix, soprano; Anna-Helena MacLachlan, contralto; Meté O’Reilly, tenor and Ben Russell, baritone. We are delighted to be joined by the Degani Orchestra, led by Alan Smale, with guest musicians from the Con Tempo Quartet.

Concert Dates and Venues:
Saturday 24th May at 8:00pm – St Andrew’s Church, Westland Row, Dublin
Sunday 25th May at 7:30pm – Church of the Most Holy Redeemer, Bray

We warmly invite you to join us for one or both of these very special performances, as we celebrate four decades of choral singing and community. This promises to be a memorable evening for long-time supporters and new audiences alike.
